This is a really hard thing to do. Sometimes it is so easy to get angry…about everything… sometimes before we even know what’s going on…
So, what can we do to love, instead of becoming easily angered?
~Easily, Focus on others~
•Think the best of people
“But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.” ~ Matthew 5:22
•Don’t jump to conclusions
“We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.
For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” ~Romans 15:1-4
•Ask questions and listen
“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of Yahweh.“
~James 1:19
May we learn to control our anger. May love outshine even any thoughts of anger in our hearts. May we listen before speaking, and focus on others…
Love…a four letter word that doesn’t begin with Anger.
~~~Sweet blessings~~~
This is a great post! God tells us to love one another. Being angry definitely doesn’t show the love of God. We are to express the love and joy He has given to us to others. Let our light shine for the Lord, even when we’re not having the best day because He is still in our life. 😊 Blessings to you! 🎕
Joy,
What a wonderful topic! You may not know this but reading over your love is… not easily angered you helped me. I’m a person who would get angry anytime of the day. Especially during traffic that was the worst time. But as I’ve been reading scriptures on change and patience I’ve gotten a lot better. But this post of yours really opened up my eyes… thanks my sweet friend.. sweet blessings to you. ❤️
I find that is best to ask myself the question, “Why are you angry?” We can get angry for many different reasons, and if we don’t know why we are angry, and we don’t get to the root of it, it tends to keep repeating itself over and over again. Like, for instance, I used to get angry when I got into a line in a grocery store which always had some problem with the cash register or with the person’s stuff who was in front of me in line, so I was angry because I had to wait longer. Then, one day the Lord asked me why I was angry. The answer? I was selfish. I had to wait. But, it was also habit, something I had learned from others. It was commonplace. I didn’t even think about it. I just did it, that is until the Lord let me see myself and see how ridiculous it all was, and how selfish. And, then I learned to laugh at myself and my circumstances. I still tend to get into the shortest-longest line, but I laugh or I see it as an opportunity to talk with someone, but I haven’t gotten angry for a very long time about having to wait in line.
So, when you (anyone) are angry, try asking yourself why. Ask the Lord why. And, be willing to hear what he has to say about it. Sometimes it is unforgiveness in our hearts or resentment or bitterness we are holding on to, and maybe we don’t even realize that is there until we examine our hearts before the Lord. Maybe it is just pure selfishness, and we need a realignment of our hearts, or maybe it is pride or jealousy or whatever. So, just saying that if we want to not be angry people, and if we want to conquer the anger, sometimes we need to ask the hard questions and dig down deep and discover what is in our hearts that needs to come out (gotten rid of) and then maybe those things will not trigger anger in us anymore.
